5 ways to improve your outdoor area

As Aussies, we simply love the outdoors. While we enjoy sports and love exploring nature, many of us also spend a lot of time outdoors.

If you’re a homeowner, no doubt you enjoy spending time outdoors as well. However, I’m sure you’re always looking for ways to improve your outdoor area.

As an expert in the shade solution industry, I’ll help you out. Continue reading this post as I list 5 ways you can improve your outdoor area to create a more liveable space. These methods are easy to implement and after reading through, I’m sure you’ll consider one or more of them.

1. Improve your patio

If you own a patio, updating it can dramatically improve your outdoor living space. For starters, consider whether your patio is large enough to accommodate your needs. If it isn’t, look to extend it. Also, check if your patio needs any repairing or renovation.

And, if your patio is not covered, then you should consider using a waterproof canopy to shade cover. For this, look no further than Global Shade. We specialise in offering waterproof canopies that will make your patio accessible all year round.

2. Create an outdoor living room

An outdoor living room is perfect for entertaining guests. If you already own a patio, creating an outdoor room is easy. All you have to do is to cover your patio with a canopy, install outdoor blinds, add seating and you have yourself a weatherproof room.

Outdoor blinds, such as those we offer here at Global Shade will help you create an enclosed outdoor living room on a budget. They will also offer UVR protection for you and your outdoor furniture. Moreover, they will help keep pests and debris out, while also offering privacy.

3. Build a fire pit

I am particularly fond of outdoor cooking and for this reason; I built a fire pit in my backyard. You can consider building one yourself – all you need is a pit, a metal ring, drainage gravel and retaining wall blocks or buying one from the likes of Bunnings.

However, before you go about getting a fire pit, be sure to check with your local government and determine if open flames are permitted in your neighbourhood area.

4. Use privacy screens

I have privacy screens installed in my outdoor living areas, and I must say that they work wonders! This offers me and my family a wonderful outdoor space that is protected from view. If you’re concerned about privacy, you should get one of these installed around your outdoor space.

Privacy screens can easily be created by using tinted outdoor blinds. At Global Shade, we can completely customise tinted outdoor blinds to create a great privacy screen.

5. Upgrade your outdoor furniture

Over time, outdoor furniture loses its shine and ends up looking dull and lifeless. In turn, this makes an outdoor area look uninviting.

The easiest way around this is to upgrade your outdoor furniture once every few years. Make sure to choose furniture that offers high utility and matches the overall theme and décor of your home. While you look at the cost and quality of furniture, don’t forget to consider the maintenance requirements.

Conclusion:

If you’re looking at ways to improve your outdoor area, you have more than a few options on hand. Improving your patio, creating and outdoor living room, building a fire pit, using privacy screens and upgrading outdoor furniture are some simple ways to improve outdoor space. You’ll be surprised how much of a difference these simple upgrades can make to your outdoors.
