Congratulations on having purchased a cantilever umbrella from Global Shade. You are now the owner of a superior grade product that will offer you years of service. Moreover, your new umbrella requires very little maintenance and it is incredibly easy to clean as well.

Today, I will offer some suggestions on how you can clean your cantilever umbrella properly. These tips will help you clean your umbrella without causing any damage to the shade fabric or supporting frame.

1. Routine cleaning

Global Shade cantilever umbrellas are high quality products that don’t need to be cleaned on a regular basis. However, we recommend for umbrellas to be cleaned at least once a month, or more if they are located near trees or shrubs.

For light cleaning, remove your umbrella from direct sunlight and brush or vacuum off the dirt. Make sure to use soft brushes to prevent soil from being driven deep into the fabric.

To wash your fabric, use a quality detergent that contain enzymes. Soak your umbrella fabric into the detergent for 15-20 minutes and then rinse it with a hose spray. After this, you can move your umbrella back to the sun. Also, remember not to close the umbrella until the fabric has dried completely.

2. Clearing out debris

From time to time, you’ll find that your cantilever umbrella has gathered dust, leaves, twigs and small rocks. If this debris is allowed to sit on the shade fabric for too long, mildew will form and water will start pooling. In turn, this will cause rips and damage the fabric.

Debris should be cleared from umbrellas as soon as it is noticed. While you can clear large debris by hand, you can use a vacuum cleaner or soft brush for small debris.

3. Removing mildew and sap stains

Over time, cantilever umbrellas may gather sap stains and mildew. These are more difficult to clean than simple debris and you’ll need a stronger cleaning agent.

To remove mildew and sap stains, mover your umbrella to a shaded area. Use chlorine bleach or a strong laundry detergent mixed with water for cleaning the fabric. Allow the fabric to soak in the cleaning solution for 15-20 minutes and then scrub the stains with a soft brush. Finally, use a hose to rinse the fabric and allow the umbrella to dry under sunlight.

4. Cleaning the umbrella frame

Global Shade cantilever umbrellas feature an aluminium frame on a durable structural steel frame. While the umbrella frame need not be cleaned very often, you may want to clean it once a year.

To remove surface soil from the frame, use a solution of mild soap and water, followed by rinsing with clean water. Do not use any abrasive chemicals, bleach products or cleaners as they may damage the material finish. Always remember to rinse and wipe down the frame every time you clean it.

Conclusion:

Global Shade cantilever umbrellas are durable structures that require little cleaning. You should clean your umbrella fabric once a month with a mild detergent to remove loose dirt and dust. You can clear out debris from the fabric using a brush or a vacuum cleaner. To remove mildew and sap stains, use a strong cleaning agent and scrub the stains with a soft brush. To clean the umbrella frame, use a solution of mild soap and water. Always remember to rinse and wipe the frame and allow the umbrella to dry in the sun completely before closing it.
